Ipad accepts password, then changes back to apple screen. How do I get it to my home screen?

My ipad turns on as normal, accepts password as normal. It goes to my home screen back ground for seconds (no icons appear), then quickly goes back to the apple screen. How do I get it to go to my home screen. The battery seems to be fine. I've tried rebooting it by turning it off, waiting a while, and turning it back on, nothing seems to work.

I Suppose that the next step would be to restore the iOS software, or at least make an attempt to do so. This would be my next step.

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Something else that you might consider is to let the battery totally run down until the iPad shuts off, recharge it for a couple of hours and then try to power up again. I have seen people suggest letting the battery drain for a whole host of other issues. I don't know if it forces the system to reset differently than using the two button reset, but I have seen others recommend it.

If nothing else else will work, it might not hurt to try.

Thanks, I'm at work now and will have to wait until I get home to try the restore, as I don't have the cord with me. It will probably be impossible on dial up to do that in any reasonable length of time. Maybe I'll try the battery thing to see if that works. I've looked and looked, and haven't found anyone else that has had this problem.

This is a user to user support forum and Apple only participates here...

1. To maintain order and make sure that we are obeying the ToU.

2. Any help that comes directly from Apple in the forum is by way of the Apple Community Specialists that respond to questions that have gone over 48 hours without a response. The Community Specialists mostly just direct users to support articles, and rarely get into any actual dialog with another user regarding the problem. I mean no offense to any of these fine people who are doing their job as instructed, but they are almost like "bots" since there is so very little interaction between them and the user that they are trying to help. I'm not saying that there isn't any follow up interaction, but it doesn't seem to occur all that often.

Having explained that to you, if you think somebody from Apple would be better suited to help, make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and ask for help there. That is how you make direct contact with Apple to get help.

Thanks for your help. The nearest Apple Store/Genius Bar is over two hours away, one way, for me. I would think that Apple would want to help make it easier for users to get help with their products so they keep buying them. In this day and age there, there are many companies and products to choose from that basically do the same thing. I guess this taught me to check out the service departments before I buy another product of this type and go with the one that has help easily and readily available. Thanks again for your suggestions.
