Hardlinks and Backups question

Hi

I was curious: Library backups connect to the media via hard links. If you open a backup and copy an event or project from it into your current library, does it still retain its hard links forevermore, or does it slyly link to the files the same way the current files do? (Which for all I know, may be by hard links. Which begs the question from this idiot: What do you call how FCPX links to media, projects and events in the current library)
