I can’t turn on my MacBook Pro without an SMC reset when I close the lid

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012).

Approximately, since 5-6 months ago from now, I am not able to turn on my computer without and SMC reset if I close the lid. I can use the device normally, I don’t have any problems unless I close the lid. While the computer is on, if I close and open the lid, it continues to run. For example, when I push the caps lock the indicator lights up and down or my phone connected to the usb port continues to charge. But I can’t see the screen until I do an SMC reset.

I took the computer to the Apple Store. They said they haven’t come across this kind of problem yet and they also added it can be caused by a logic board problem and as my computer’s warranty has ended it could cost around 600$.

Can the problem be about the software? I reset the OS two times and I have the 10.9.4 Mavericks right now.

Do you have any other ideas and solutions? Thank you for your help in advance.
