subscripts & superscripts in tables when exporting to pdf

I frequently export my documents to pdf since I'm working with windows users in the office. I want to know why subscripts and superscripts don't appear in the pdf files when they are used in tables? Is there a way to fix this? In export options I've tried changing the quality of export to 'better' and 'best' but that has no effect in this context.
