Need to downgrade from 10.9 to 10.8 or 10.7 (MacBookPro i7, mid-2010)

Have a used MacBookPro from 2010 (2.66 GHz i7, 8GB RAM) with many installed apps (such as CS5 Suite and Logic Pro X). This laptop was upgraded to 10.9 prior to my purchase. Some parts of Adobe CS5 and Logic programs are not working properly and/or updating properly. Maintenance programs have been run and there are still problems.

I'd like to reduce/downgrade the OS to less than 10.9. Will a "downgrade" from 10.9 (Mavericks) to 10.7 or 10.8 be permitted and successful ?

Do a backup.

Revert to a Previous OS X

Technically, the word "downgrade" is not correctly used. The only way to "downgrade" an OS is to erase it and replace it with an older older OS version. If you don't have a backup, you will lose all of your data when you erase the drive.

I've reinstalled 10.6 on a 10.7 disk and preserved everything.
