Music not showing up on iTunes when connected

I have an iPhone 4 software version 7.0.4 I have music on my phone that does not show up on iTunes when I connect to my mac. I want to delete this music off my phone, but am unable to do so. I have tried swiping on the phone itself but do not get an option to delete. Can anyone help?
