Contacts lost and data unable to restore from PC

All of a sudden lost all my contacts and later tried to restore my phone from the PC but the backed up data is unavailable. Btw I backed up my phone successfully couple of days ago. to restore I reset all the information and data on my set and now I'm in a fix since I can't get the information. Pls advise what can be done, rgds

Why can't you restore your data? You're not giving us very much information to go on. How were you syncing your contacts before, through iCloud or through an email account?

I Backed up all the data last week on iTunes and sync the contacts through that...Didn't use iCloud. Is that the right way of syncing contacts and other data on the phone?
