Bluetooth browser can find device

Operating iOS 10.6.8 and want to connect to Nook HD. Mac has been paired and the Nook has been paired but can't send files but can receive files from device. Once when Browser was searching after a long period of time it popped up a menu that asked for Bluetooth address and at the time dismissed it. Now want to bring it back up so can put in address to see if that will solve the problem. Nook people say that it only works with keyboards and headphones but if it can send shouldn't it also receive?
