imovie 11 event missing but name is in use

I just imported several videos into iMovie11 from my iPHONE 5. I created 2 new events to store/categorize the videos. I also just loaded an update on OS X 10.9.4 that required a reboot. When I relaunch iMovie, my new events are missing along with the videos I imported. However, when I attempt to recreate the event, it tells me that even name is already in use. But, the event name is not visible in iMovie OR if I do a file search from the Finder window. Any ideas how I can recover my Events and videos?
