Poor sound quality after installing update 11.3.0.54

Just downloaded iTunes latest update and since then my music, podcasts and audio books have a very low volume and the sound is distorted and muffled.

Volume is checked on both iTunes and iPod. Tried fiddling around with the preferences in Playback. Even uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. Nothing. Please help.

This is most likely a problem with your computer. Check your speakers.

Tried that too. Listened on my computer and on my iPod separately and both are distorted. Everything was fine before this update. Thanks for your suggestion, though!
