Alarm sounds including iTunes music on iPhone 5 do not sound after upgrade to iOS 7.1.2. I've test several countdown timers and alarm clock apps which worked last month. I missed an alarm this morning when the selected sound failed to be played.
First try a Reset: Hold down the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.
If that does not work Restore you iPhone from your backup in iTunes.
Still not working? Restore it as a new iPhone.
If all above fails get it serviced. My alarms are all working on my iPhone 5.

Thanks. Reset did it. The first thing I do when troubleshooting my wife's phone is a reset yet on my own ... ?
