trying to wipe 2009 imac without startup disc

im trying to sell my 2009 24 inch imac but ofcourse need to have it wiped first, unfortunently i dont have the original box or disc. Is there any other way i can safely wipe it or maybe take it to bestbuy to get them to wipe it for me? also any good ideas on how to optimally sell or what price i should sell for?

If you can download an ISO & burn that to a CD it is possible to use dban to erase a disk - 'Dariks boot & nuke'.

Be aware that this tool is designed to erase disks - so don't have anything connected that you cannot afford to lose!

Just use Disk Utility to mount the iso then select the 'DBAN' volume to burn to CD. That should make a bootable Linux system that has tools for erasing the disk.

The second part of this video guide may make it clear how DBAN works…

As for price look at other machines of the same spec on Ebay & all the other places where Macs sell local to you.
