Capturing using Canopus ADVC-100 No Power via Firewire

I recently purchased a used Canopus ADVC-100 to use to convert Hi-8 tapes. I'm using a 6 pin to 9 pin connection to my iMac. There are no lights on the ADVC-100, so I'm assuming it is not getting power from the iMac. I do not have an external power supply to test the ADVC-100. The iMac/FCPX is not recognizing the device, so it's not a case of a burned out light. Any help welcomed. Thanks

You actually need the correct power adapter to suit the ADVC 100.

It is not a self powered firewire device.

I'd suggest looking up or downloading a manual to find out the specs for an adaptor.

Looks like I read it incorrectly. Any leads on the proper power supply? Mine did not come with one.
