connecting ipod to clarion cz302 through usb port does not work. Clarion keeps flashing reading and never moves on

Any suggestions for playing my ipod through the my clarion cz302 car stereo? I have reset both. I have updated both. I have tried different cables and ipods. The clarion keeps flashing reading and ipod, but never moves to play. THANKS
