My IPod Touch 4 is acting up! Help!!

My IPod 4 has been dropped and has slight water damage. I've had it for at least 2 years and it has done this once before but never this long. It is now acting like there is some sort of invisible finger trying to log on for me and it keeps locking me out of it. I've tried forcing it to shut down by holding the power and home buttons until I see the Apple symbol but that didn't seem to help. Is there an easy way to fix it without spending money or loosing all my apps, contacts, and music? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
