Why would I not receive updates to apps on the iPad?

I received them regularly via my iPhone and I have to initiate the update that never happens with my iPad and it has the same apps as my iPhone ??

On your iPad you must have turned off automatic updates. To turn it on...

1. Try restart iPad

2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
