POP mail setup no longer an option on iPhone?
My iPhone is forcing IMAP over POP (no toggle). My provider allows POP. How do I set up POP? There is no "POP vs. IMAP" toggle switch in Mail setup.

If the provider only provides POP, my understanding is that this would be entered automatically. It worked that way for my POP account when I first set it up, but that was ages ago .
If you haven't been able to save the information in the settings, back out of the settings app, close the settings app, and restart the phone, then try again. If the email account was saved somehow, delete it, restart the phone and try again.

Thanks. Tried the whole reboot thing but it is still setting up the account as IMAP vs POP.
Who is your email provider? What country?
FastMail in the US. I have my home computer set up with a POP account and I down load messages permanently there. But I like to keep some old emails for reference on my iPhone after I have downloaded them from the server.
I see on their technical support site that they recommend using IMAP and I understand that, but they do offer POP. They show the settings for POP here.

But when I go to the instructions on how to set FastMail up on an iOS device, it seems as though it only shows IMAP. Could that be intentional?
I don't think so. I had it set up as POP before. Somehow around the time of last week's iOS update things changed.
I wish I could be of more help. Perhaps contacting FastMail support would be your best option now.
Thank you for trying. FastMail tech support says that the new iOS forces the account to IMAP if the server supports it. They can't seem to find any way to force it to let me set up a POP connection. Pretty frustrating! I will have to see if anyone else complains to Apple about it.
