Why is the latest iOS update asking me for a pass code to install and where do I get one from?

When I installed it on my it used the passcode that I use to unlock the iPad - have you tried that passcode ? If you don't have a unlock passcode then do you currently have Setting > General > Restrictions enabled - if you do then try that code, or try setting an unlock passcode and see if it accepts that
