Saving all SMS received photo messages

I have a friend I talk to everyday that constantly sends me pictures. I'm trying to put together a scrapbook kinda thing for her, but whenever I try to go back through old messages my phone freezes and the app shuts down. Is there an easy way to save all those old pictures from months ago in an app or software of some sort? They are all still on my phone but take up a lot of space.
