How do I recover photos from a corrupted sd card

My rather old mac book froze and crashed while I had my camera connected meaning I got the message warning me I hadn't disconnected the device correctly. I then found that several 100 random photos had disappeared from the sd card both when you look at it on the camera and when you look at it on the mac book. The strange thing is the same amount of space still seems to be taken up on the sd card, meaning it's gone from holding 100s of photos (it 2gb) down to only holding 40. I have tried a couple of free recovery programmes but they can't seem to find the lost photos. Can anybody help me out? There's some photos on there I'd really love back 😟

A free utility to recover data files and image files from failed drives; uses a unix or

command-line interface, so it is not really Mac-like. But is worth a look; & it's free.

"open source multi-platform" There are two parts to this, so note how they work.

•Photo Rec - digital image recovery:

•Download TestDisk & PhotoRec
