Mini Player Doesn't Work, can't switch playlists

I'm on an iMac running 10.6.8, using iTunes 11.2.2. Since a few iTunes updates ago, my mini player doesn't work. I also can't switch playlists without closing the app. If I pause what I'm playing in one playlist, and then switch to a new playlist and hit play, the old playlist just keeps playing. Someone please help!
