Start up disc full and not starting up

My mac laptop startup disc is full. Now it won't start up past logo. Tried previous suggestions like removing battery and holding down shift key but not working. Any other ideas so I can finish my document? Thanks. PS: Tried going to Apple store but all techs gone for the night.

If you boot drive is full and won't boot then your only avenue is to connect your Mac to another Mac via Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. There you can use the other Mac to access your hard drive to move files off of it to an external HD or delete files. It's strongly recommended one maintain a minimum of 10-15 GB of free space for optimal system and application performance.
