can't open iPhotos, message says I must update to newer version, but there is no new software update. I am using version OS 10.7.5. Do I have to pay for the new iPhoto's in the App Store??

When I try to open iPhotos I get a message saying iPhoto Library can't open, I must upgrade to the newest version of iPhotos. Everything worked fine until 2 weeks ago….just suddenly stopped working. iPhoto works on all other Apple products. I'm using OS 10.7.5
First go for an operating system update, the latest OS release is OS X 10.9.4, then try to open iPhoto. Still it doesn’t opens means then update iPhoto application ...
Please give us the exact error message
have you opened this iPhoto library with a newer version of iPhoto on a different machine? If not try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

The library 'iPhoto Library' cannot be opened. To open it it you must upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto
I have tried to repair permissions and rebuild to no effect. I have tried again and the first aid window does not show, I just get the same error message.
