I am having problems backing up.
I have a time capsule.
It is connected to my wifi network.
It shows in the finder.
when i attempt to back up, i get a message saying that the time capsule is not available.
Any suggestions, please?
If you connect your Mac to the TC with an Ethernet cable, can you backup successfully?
I think i might have solved the problem. When i went to airport utility to check the time capsule settings, i saw that there were two time capsules with a different icon on each. I switched to the other one from the one that had been selected, and it now works ok. And yes, it works with ethernet too.

Actually, i should have entered this as a separate question than on here, sorry about that.
But I do have a question about getting airport utility 5.6.1 to operate. Before i had the hassles with the time capsule that led to the question just above, I had an old airport express working ok on the network. But now it isn't. And the issue appears to be the inability to open 5.6.1. I get a message saying it can't be used on this version of OS-X (which is 10.9.4).
Any suggestions on this problem?
You have two options...
1. Use an older version of OSX (Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion), if you have access to it.
2. Use a Windows machine and install the Windows 5.6.1 version, which is very close to the older 5.6 OSX version.
