To help other members answer your question, give as many details as you can. A couple of things...
• Provide the version numbers of your operating system and relevant applications, for example "OS X n.n.n" or "Safari n.n.n" or "Firefox n.n.n".
• Do you indeed have tor restart the iMac or will merely Quit Browser and Re-Open browser do the trick?
EDIT
Almost forgot...
• Did this misbehavior start suddenly? If so, what changes had been made prior to the misbehavior? New software? Updates? etc?

What are you using to connect......wi-fi network, router.......what?

That issue had occurred to me as well. Security "feature" of the WiFi or whatever. If this is sudden misbehavior... what changed?
lipsmackinu has the added problem of "idle for a few hours"... hard to repeat efficiently. So we wait.
