How do I insert a pause between podcasts?

I've subscribed to a podcast, and I've noticed that when one ends, the next one starts immediately. REALLY immediately. I'd like to insert a bit of space in between the podcasts, and haven't been able to find a way. I even made sure crossfade (in preferences) was checked, and the amount of time was increased. Apparently, that only works for songs, not podcasts. Can anyone suggest anything? I even have this problem on my iphone and iPad.
