why do some photos to to camera roll and some to photo stream

why are some photos I take with iPad either going to camera roll and some to photo stream? So when I go on my mac just the photos from photo stream show up.

All photos that you take with the device go to the camera roll and they should also appear in the Photo Stream automatically as well, as long as Photo Stream is enabled. You can store up to 1000 photos in the photo stream and when you reach that limit, the oldest photos in the stream are replaced with the newest ones that you have just taken. This also works automatically.


What you see in iPhoto on the Mac is the way that it works. Photo Stream photos are saved automatically to iPhoto as long as that is enabled on the Mac. Camera roll photos have to be imported into iPhoto by connecting the iPad to the. Mac with the cable and launching iPhoto.

iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer


Have you checked to see that the camera roll photos on your iPad are the same as what is in Photo Stream - at least from the point in time that you enabled photo stream.
