Numbers maximum size?

A csv file, with 426 columns (and 150 rows)... opened in Numbers, I get only 229 columns in the spreadsheet.

What are the maximum sizes for Numbers nowadays? A search finds threads on this from 2007 and 20011.

Back then, someone examined the error messages in the program, and concluded the maximum was 256 rows and 35535 columns.

Any increase in 3 years?

I was able to create a table then expand until it would add not more. I was able to create 256 columns and 65535 rows:
