When os x Yosemite comes out do we need to update to it or can we keep it on the software it is on now? The reason for me asking is because the design and look is 100 percent more professional than Yosemite and Yosemite makes the imac value less. Would it slow down my computer if I didn't update and could I not update it? I know steve would have heavily disagreed to this version as well as consumers.
No, you don't need to update. Mavericks will remain as is, but fewer and fewer software updates will be available for it over time.

No one can answer your question completely as it would be speculating (and we aren't allowed to do that; neither are we allowed to discuss a not a publicly released OS).
So, one part of the answer is: No, you do not have to upgrade. As long as yours does what you need it to do. However, if you do not, at some point, your apps/software would no longer be supported not could it be updated any further and there also won't be any security updates at some point.
Because I am planning to buy an Imac soon and I'm gonna try and get it before yosemite comes out and if that's the case than I would be safe? If I get it after I'm guessing any imac I would buy would have that unprofessional software on it?

I am saving for one for school I was gonna buy one next fall because I always wanted one because they looked professional and amazing so the sad reality thing is if I want one and try to buy one next year I would be screwed with this bad software that even steve would hate with a passion?

You may want to buy a secondhand model; they're cheaper, and can usually run older Mac OS X versions.

I ll see what happens. Thanks guys for the help. I wish apple didn't decide to start choosing to go downhill with professionalism. Wish steve didn't die yet. Apple could have still gotten so much better before this.
