iPhoto: Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable

MacBook Air, OS X (10.6.8) I don't know if its Lion or Leopard. I never upgraded, so maybe it's Lion? Not sure where to find that information.

reboot - if that does not resolve Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
