Iphoto won't open anymore.

Help, iPhoto will not open anymore. See picture. I attempt to start computer, go to iPhoto, open it and it fails every time. It attempts to open and has the loading icon spinning round and round then the same notification pops up every time (see pic). The notification tells me to shut down and restart computer and try opening again.... if that fails then to "rebuild" the library? Lastly restore iPhoto from library?

I have a Mac OS X, Version 10.9.4, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, Memory 8 GB

How do I fix this and if I can't fix iPhoto did I just lose all of my photos or they will still be here under photos? I can not tell.

Have you done what the alert says? If you have backups, you're in no danger of losing anything.

1 - your photos are safe in your iPhoto library and in your backup

2 - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
