I'm editing a really important project and my Final Cut Pro (latest edition) is dropping frames. I have imported clips com motion and have also layered up to 3 clips over one another but the Mac has by far enough power to handle that I need some help really quickly.
Use Proxi meda or turn on Better performance in playback. This is a sign of that your computer lacks power. Use external drive for your media and library. And turn of this warning in Preferences.
Drive speed is likely the limitation.
Note that even with the fastest mac you have to consider where the bottleneck is - think of a crazy fast Mac Pro trying to get footage off a slow usb 2 disk.
