how do i remove an app, no longer want, not working?

Hi:

How do I remove an App completely from my iMac 27, which i no longer want or not working? Is there a specific way to do this? I'm working on a iMac 27 late 2010, Lion OS X 10.7.5. I intend to move up to Mavericks OS X soon. Thanks.

It depends on the app. Many can be uninstalled just by dragging it from the Applications folder to the trash.
