mirroring with VGA not working right with iPAD 7.1.2 update

So I ran into a problem with my Keynote for ipad tonight. it displayed on the projector screen with a third of the slide cut off. The left third of the screen was black. We tried disconnecting and reconnecting the VGA adapter but it didn't help at all. Any ideas? I installed 7.1.2 just the other day.

I am constantly in different situations with various projectors. Any tips would be appreciated.

I am running it on an iPad Air.

Here's a little more info. The image problem first happened with a Dell (Older model) I was able to reproduce the problem on my Dell MP1800.

With more testing, I noticed that the problem is NOT just with Keynote but with all mirrored images - home screen, etc.

I have tested the VGA adapter on an iPad minI and iPhone 5c and had very similar results - on the iPhone it stretched the picture.

So I include the problem is with the adapter.
