Jul 13, 2014 9:31 PM in response to HarperFromDowneyby gail from maine,How do you have the Parental Controls set up? Do you have the "Allow Access to only these Websites" option ticked? And did you add that new URL to that list?
Cheers,

Jul 13, 2014 10:20 PM in response to gail from maineby HarperFromDowney,I have the middle option checked, that says to attempt to control my access to adult websites. This appears to give me unencumbered access to non-secure sites (http addresses), but requires approving any site starting with https (that's the pattern I notice anyway). But even adding this particular site does not work.

Jan 1, 2015 8:16 AM in response to HarperFromDowneyby theresafromedgewater,Apple deliberately blocks all secure websites if you have Parental Controls turned on. You don't have any option to change that unfortunately. It's their way of playing Big Brother. And conveniently (for Apple) prevents you from effectively using yahoo mail or gmail or installing and using Google Chrome since these refer back to a long list of secure IP addresses for web components.
They document this 'feature' of parental controls here: Mac OS X v10.5, 10.6: About the Parental Controls Internet content filter - Apple Support. Note that it is still true in 10.10.
