When i plug in my atv 2 into my mac pro 10.9 by micro usb the white light dose not come on why???

When i plug in my atv 2 into my mac pro 10.9 by micro usb nothing happens. in all the videos i have watched the light should come on with out the power cord. Well mine docent and i have restored it.
