how do I connect my Canon MV5i to iMac with no firewire?

I have an old Canon MV5i camcorder and I am trying to transfer the video's to my iMac (2012 model) that has no firewire.

Can anyone let me know how I do this?

A Thunderbolt/Firewire adapter:

Google reveals that the CV-150F/CV-250F DV Cable on the user manual is a Firewire 4 pin to Firewire 6 pin connector.

You'll need a 6 pin to 9 pin connector to connect the above adapter from Apple to it:
