My Daughters Ipad 2 has a black screen. We've tried to reset and system restore but still nothing. It does make a noise when power cable plugged in and if connected to itunes but we still have a black screen. Any ideas?
What sort of a noise? The reason I ask is that unless the iPad has sound coming out the speakers it is pretty much a silent running platform, I'd suspect that this 'noise' is a side-effect of the issue you are experiencing, so it may well be worth going to your local Apple Store to see if they can advise further.

Steve, it's the standard beep when you plug the device in to charge. If you press the home & power button at the same time when plugged into laptop it sounds like it is taking a screen shot but the screen is still black. Took it into the Apple store and they suggested doing a restore before taking it back. I've done that but it hasn't made a difference - looks like it may have to have new hardware 😟 which i was hoping to avoid.
