Faulty WD My Passport

I am currently using a WD My Passport 1TB hard drive and a MacBook Pro 13' (Early 2011). I have partitioned it into 3 partitions, one of them for Time Machine backup. It seems that when I connect it hard drive to my Mac, sometimes all partitions will appear and other times only some or none will be detected. I am suspecting that the hard drive is faulty because I have used a different cable and the same thing happens. I am not sure if I will be able to recover all my files if I send the hard drive for warranty repair. Is there anything I can do for my files? I do not have enough space on my Mac to move my files into it.
