Voice Memos app - the end of my recording is missing

I made a recording using IOS 7's built in Voice Memos app the other day. Now that I have loaded it on my computer and played it back, I am missing a large and critical part of the recording at the end! This is seen on both the file I synced to my computer and on the iPhone 4s it was recorded on.

On the iPhone however, if I click edit on the recording in Voice Memos and scroll to the end of the waveform, I can see that the waveform continues to go on past the end of the timeline. This gives me hope that the data is there and I might be able to still get it. That said, I have tried to extend the clip with the built-in trim functionality but it won't let me expand it.

Does anyone have any insight as to how I can access this data, or maybe as to why this might have happened in the first place?
