iphone 4S water damaged screen

Unfortunately, I dropped my iPhone 4S into the toilet last Friday. Panicked and not knowing what to do, I quickly pulled it out of the water and pressed the power button to see if it still worked (dumb move, as I found out later). The screen flickered and went black. After drying it in a bag of silica crystals for 48 hours, the phone does technically work, but the screen is still black. I can hear text messages coming in, it "buzzes" when I put it on the charger, and I can take pictures, but I just can't see anything. I'm pretty sure I short-circuited the screen. Is that something I can have fixed, or should I just cough up the money to replace the phone?

Your device is probably toast. Replacing the screen may help short term but problems will return. Water and the phone do not mix well. It is time to bite the bullet and get a new device or a replacement. Apple will replace your device for a cost with a refurbished phone as any warranty does not cover water damage.

Unless you have Apple Care then you will have to pay for a new phone, however check with your provider and see if you are not ready for an upgrade and hopefully you can get a phone for less then a new one
