Hello!

You can turn it on if you have power adapter. But it will keep resetting the date and time.
You may have problems. My older PBG4 from early 2003 has a dead internal backup battery and will not start from the power adaptor alone if the battery (mine has a good battery) has discharged. The main battery must have a little charge or there is no startup.
All you can do it try it. It may help to remove the main battery, leave the PB on wall power but turned off (not sleeping) for 24-48 hours before trying a wall power restart. That can sometimes get enough juice through the internal battery to wake it up for a short time.
If your DLSL is a 1.67gHz 17-inch unit, you can get new internal backup batteries. Takes some non-trivial disassembly to get to and install but that is the only PB for which int backups batteries are avaialble:

If you can do the labor, that is the most cost-effective action to keep your PB in service. Illustrated instructions are here, should you wish to judge if this is an install you want to tackle:
The Powerbook is the 15 inch version. The contact on the charger is green but it goes orange sometimes.
Is it possible to change the PRAM battery to a regular CMOS battery that you use on a pc?
