How to Set Color for Individual Series in Bar Chart

Using Keynote version 6.2. I have a bar chart with a total of 20 series. I would like to use red for the series labeled PBS (see attached). I've been following Apple's instructions for Keynote '09, but dragging the color to the PBS series changes all bars to red. Here's what Apple's instructions says:

Do one of the following:

  • To fill all the elements in all the data series, click Apply All. The first fill is applied to elements in the first series, the second fill to elements in the second series, and so on.
  • To fill elements in a single data series, drag the fill to an element (bar, column, and so on) in the series.

Any one have an idea of how to change the color of a single data series?
