Double-Click in v3.2 - repeated attempts w/o ability to edit cell

I've just updated to Numbers 3.2, and finding it very annoying to edit a cell. I don't understand why a very simple function is so difficult now - it taking multiple attempts (double-click) just to edit cell. When I use the double click method the entire cell is highlighted but will not allow me insert (edit) any field. Neither a single "click, pause, click" or the preferred method "double click" works for me.What am I doing wrong?

Hi miyah,

I am not sure I understand your difficulty. When I double click in B1 of this table the editing window pops up:

I can edit the formula in it. When I double click an empty cell or a cell with data I can edit directly in the cell. I think there is somethng in your table that I am not getting. Can you post a screenshot? Cmd-shift-4 to take a screenshot.

Hi quinn,

Almost always I'm not able to enter the edit window when I double click cell. Although I repeat 'double-click' several times, I'm not getting an edit window. Instead, what I see is the entire cell expanding (see 3rd column below). If I'm lucky I might get into an edit window, but only on rare accessions. I've tried making edits to cells with numbers, text, formula etc, it doesn't matter what data is in the cell, same result. Of course, this phenomena is only experienced while in Numbers 3.2, I've not had any other OSX App behave this way.

My only option at this point, (which seems frustrating) is to navigate to cell, select Option-Return which will allow access/entry to edit cell content.

Thanks!

Hi miyah,

I am trying to duplicate your issue. On my Macbook I have the trackpad preference "tap to click" chosen. If instead of tapping I click then the chosen cell floats off the grid like yours seems to do. It does not however get really long like yours appears. If I keep pressure on my click I can drag the cell to another location. If instead of clicking on the chosen cell I tap I get the edit window.

Does tapping instead of clicking improve behavior? Is Tap to click checked in Trackpad preferences?

It is possible that your Numbers file is corrupted. You can delete it and redownload it.

Hi quinn,

How do you click instead of tapping on Macbook, it seems by doing so you have duplicated what I'm experiencing? I'm on an iMac using a magic mouse and wireless keyboard to do all my work in Numbers. I've tried adjusting double-click speed on mouse, but that hasn't improved response. Yes, I tried my trackpad and am getting the cell to enter edit window when I 'tap to click' (immediate response, as expected).

Not sure if I'm having a magic mouse issue or this behavior is a result of a corrupt download?
