5s not working after replacing batetry

Hi I wonder if anybody could offer any advice.

The battery in my 5s stopped working(not holding a charge for more than a few hours). Having replaced iPhone components plenty of times in the past I decided to just change the battery myself but things haven't gone smoothly(I know it was in warranty :/ ).

Since the new battery has been installed, I can get the phone started by plugging in the power cable.

The phone is completely usable. The screen turns on and works, the home button works, I can make and receive calls, the mic and internal speaker work, and the wifi/4g connects/gets a signal, headphones work..

The power button isn't working at all. The bottom speaker doesn't work and and biometric scanner doesn't work, although the home button does work.

Can anybody tell me if these components are related to a single ribbon cable? Or is there anything they have in common? I didn't remove anything other than the battery and screen when installing the battery so I can't understand how these components are affected.

I'd appreciate any help offered.

Regards,

Ciaran

Looks like you damaged the phone. As the iPhone is not user serviceable, you probably will not get an answer to your query on an Apple hosted forum, and if you do it will most likely get deleted by the hosts. Search elsewhere on the web.

Now, what led you to try and repair an in warranty iPhone yourself? You have forfeited all in and out of warranty service on that unit. Good luck.

Yeah I know the phone is damaged(or a cable loose), my query is does anybody body know what damaged or loose.

I fix, build and maintain Macs, Pcs, phones, printers etc for a living. I'm pretty comfortable doing it. I've repaired plenty of iPhone screens and other components in the past and couldn't see how replacing another battery would be an issue as it's the most basic replacement in the phone.

What's confusing me is I didn't touch, loosen or expose any of those components, so I can't see why they've been affected. I just want to know are they related, on the same ribbon or circuit that the three of them are affected.

I don't like to be the guy that bites the hand that feeds on forums, but your post if unhelpful and useless and looking at your other posts, that's what you do. Thanks Captain Hindsight

It's not possible for us to know what you did to the phone, but whatever it was the phone is now damaged and you have no recourse to Apple for service any more.

Did you use an real Apple battery, or some other manufacturers?

Find a 3rd party repair place and have them look at it.

I'm not going to go off topic and get the thread closed as it ultimately it may help other people if I get an answer....

Read your first reply. You didn't address my question and then gave some condescending drivel. I'm not getting into an argument on an online forum. I probably shouldn't have replied how I did, but your response wasn't helpful either.

I have done. I've loosened every ribbon cable immediately under the screen and put them back in place in case one had loosened when I opened it the first time.

I'm reluctant to go any further until I know the issue as for now I know only the screen, battery and home button have been disconnected. If I open it further then I'm widening what could be causing the issue and making troubleshooting more difficult.

I suspect the large ribbon cable that runs through the phone may have taken a nick, but I'll wait until it can be confirmed that these are related issues.

Thanks Csound1

Condescending drivel?

Coming from one who ignoring the fact that Apple would have done this work under warranty instead makes the decision to do it himself, breaks the phone then turns to us for help?

Good luck and goodbye.

Yet you stated:

Seems like your skills are not quite as good as you thought.

You have damaged your phone. Could be a cut cable, bad connector, cut trace on the board. Your phone is not going to work. You could have gotten a replacement from Apple for $269.00. But since you decided to exercise your skills on your device you have rendered any such opportunity for such replacement completely void.

You have a brick. You bricked it. You will have to pay full price to get a new device. Apple will have nothing further to do with the device.

So I log back in here and see your answer:

Well, the "condescending drivel" as you call it, is a small dose of reality which your ego-driven self seems reluctant to accept. My original reply tried to nudge you to another place on the web as your question and any subsequent "solution" violates TOS of the forum which we all agreed too . Surprised the whole thread has not been excised by TPTB. And perhaps this post will as well.

And, by opening the iPhone you have not only voided the warranty, but have also forefited the right of recieving help with your "question" on this forum.

Now, do you get the picture?

Have a nice day.
