Sorry for a noob question. How do I show master track. The manual says:
show the master track
Choose Track > Show Master Track from the Tracks area menu bar.
I do not have TRACK option on the Tracks area menu bar.
Thanks

Assuming you are using Logic Pro X....
Turn on ALL the Advanced Features in Logic's Prefs/Advanced Tab
Now you will be running LPX in Full LPX mode and not "Garageband Pro" mode and you will see that option become available ....
Odd.. I've never used the Master Track via that method and you are right, it doesnt seem to be available via the menu but....
There is an alternative way of showing the Master track... which is how I've always done it...
Go to the Mixer..
Right or Control click on the Master Strip...
Click on Create Track in the pop up menu that appears...
The Master track will now appear in the Arrange Window...

This function has been re-named in LPX 10.0.7.
In 10.0.6:
In 10.0.7
Both will create a Track for the Output channel for 'standard' stereo projects.
In 10.0.7, the Menu function is called "Show Master Track" when you have a Surround output.

Hi CCT,
Thanks!
That explains why I couldn't find it but.....
Isn't the Output track actually different to the Master Track however?
Both exist in the Mixer.... and while they both serve the same purpose, the Output strip, for example.. can be changed to two output strips (2 Monos) by clicking on the Stereo button in the strip.... The Master Strip doesn't have this capability...
Also, If you create a Master Track and then create an Output Track and then choose Hide Output track from the menu bar, it is the Output track that gets hidden not the Master track... so it's not really a rename of the feature but a change to using the Output track rather than the Master track, don't you think?

In a "conventional" Single ( or multiple) output pair scenario, the Master channel strip acts as a master 'VCA', controlling the output level of all outputs. No signal passes directly through the Master (which is why there are no Inserts available). This would explain why one cannot convert the Master to mono.
In a Surround scenario, the output signal does pass through the Master ( and there are Insert FX slots).
