Incomplete backup with silverkeeper

Getting message Sys Err (-50) when backing up to segate firewire 400 upgraded.
Incomplete backup indicated. Have read through forums, partially, but see some reference to long file names and -50 is user parameter usage problem.

Silverkeeper is made by Lacie and your first port of call might be with them.

A quick look at their download page http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/ says that it is rated up to 10.4.5, while you're on .7. This may be part of the problem

I took Stanley's advise, checked and repaired both drives with OSX utilities and then used Disk warrior on both. The back up drive needed minor repairs, which I assume were completed. That's what it said, anyway.

When I asked Silver keeper to do another backup, it was able to complete the task according to the Log.

Thanks all,

I may give Super Duper a look, however.

Well, it happened again, just like before, one week later with incomplete backup and sys error -50. Went through the process of OSX disc and permissions repair for both backupa and Mac HD, and then started SK to back up which it did successfully.
I'm getting a new minimac and want to be able to move files from my Seagate drive onto the new computer, and I'm hoping that nothing major is wrong with the data on the Seagate.
Help?

Thanks,
