Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
My Hard drive crashed so I replaced it with brand new hard drive and now I am trying to re-install the O.S.
The internet recovery started working (it tries to install Lion) but after my apple id was validated a message appears saying "This item temporarily unavailable, please try again later" ... I have waited several hours and it appears that something else is wrong. Any suggestions?

Are you using Ethernet or Wi-Fi? I'd use Ethernet if at all possible.

Are you connecting through a proxy?
I had a similar issue when trying to use Internet recovery. As an Administrator i connect through a transparent proxy and the recovery only got so far. Then i swithed to the proxy server the standard users access i could complete the download and finish the recovery.

Thanks. I was originally using Ethernet (direct connect) but tried wireless just for fun... no joy.
I do not think I am using a proxy unless comcast is doing something. Are there some switch settings I should change ... on my network switch? Does apple send the data via ftp or http request or something else? - Thanks.

In order to fix this I had to lug my mac to the apple store where I showed them the problem... so it was not a network or router issue since the problem showed up in the apple store. It appears that Lion is not on the app store anymore so anyone trying to do an internet recovery will have this problem. They had an image of lion that we reloaded and now I can update to latest O.S. (maverick) and hopefully if I have to do an internet recovery next time the bios will be updated to get the latest O.S.
