iPod charger symbol issue

Tonight I noted that when I plug my iPod touch 3G (most recent iOS for 6) it shows the charged icon (the plug) instead of bolt to show it's charging when the lock screen battery showed 75-80%. Sometimes I unplugged it and plugged it back in to see if would change. A couple times it didn't sense the charger and a few it went to bolt to plug and then finally bolt. It may have done this before. Tonight was the first time I noticed. Also, I don't use an Apple charger as mine broke a year or so ago. I cannot back up and restore as I am having computer issues.

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

I have a 2nd generation Touch and often when I plug it in to charge, the plug icon is displayed, despite the battery being very low. However, after a few minutes, the icon changes to the correct lightning bolt icon. So my advice to you is leave it alone and wait. Check later to see if the icon has changed. If it does, then there's no issue (apart from a bug that Apple has not yet fixed!).

If you are concerned about the connecting cable, buy a replacement one.
