The 3G internet on my iPhone 5S is really slow and on occasion doesn't connect at all until I turn data off and then back on again (sometimes having to turn the phone off to get it to work) which is really annoying although the SIM card seems to work fine, any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried measuring the 3G speed? The free app speedtest.net is an accurate way to do it. Note that cellular data speeds are very sensitive to signal strength, and 3G itself isn't all that fast at its best. If it tests above 1Mb/sec that would be considered very good.
Usually speed issues are more network related than phone related.
Thank You for your reply Lawrence, I've tried measuring the 3G Speed, before i turn data services off i can't access the speed test but when i turn data services off and then back on the 3G Speeds increase and allow me to perform a speed test, I understand what you mean but the sim card works flawlessly in my iPad Mini.
